We continue to make key investments in our people, assets and infrastructure along with bespoke in-house IT solutions, to give our customers the best service and make it easy for them to do business with us.We have a number of vacancies for Fitters at our Stoke depots, these will initially be on fixed term contracts until 24.12.2021 - there will be an opportunity for a number of the candidates to be made permanent following good performance in the role. Some candidates will be working in the wheel shop at the depot, where they will be performing routine maintenance and heavy overhaul of vehicle wheel sets.Other candidates will be working within the wagon maintenance team.
To maintain / overhaul and refurbish rolling stock/rolling stock wheel sets in accordance with the relevant laid down technical instructions and specification.
This includes but is not limited to – fault finding, rectification work, damage repairs, modification and work arising.
To ensure that stock levels are kept, and stock is stored correctly.
To order / reorder stock as required.
To carry out damage reports / overload inspections on behalf of the customer and provide all documentation including photographs when required.
To submit quotes and final costs for 3rd party work
Complete all relevant documentation relating to all work carried out on any rolling stock vehicle.
To communicate stoppages and update on the progress of rolling stock to the Field Maintenance Coordinator.
The successful candidates will have a mechanical engineering background with hands on experience.
Welding experience is also essential for these roles.
Some of these roles will require night shift working, so applicants should be willing to work night shifts.
Additional skills such as fabricating would be advantageous. Rail experience would also be advantageous.
In return, you will be offered a salary of £22,797 per annum. Those who work night shifts will receive an £87 per week payment in addition to this.
