What you will be doing




Reporting to the Team Leader you will be responsible for carrying out maintenance and overhaul of Rail vehicles to standards and procedures. You’ll also play an active part in continuously improving product quality with duties to include, although will not be limited to:





  • Carrying out work allocated by the Team leader or Heavy Maintenance Manager within set timescales
  • Ensure that safety procedures and documents are adhered to in accordance with VMI and local instructions
  • Operate rail vehicles as required
  • Assist as directed by Team Leader / Heavy Maintenance Manager in ensuring Rolling Stock availability and reliability targets are met
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures


What will you need to be considered for this Shift Fitter – Electrical role?





  • NVQ Level 3 certificate in Engineering Electrically biased (or equivalent) preferably in Rail Traction & Rolling Stock
  • Previous experience, involvement and understanding of rail vehicle heavy maintenance activities
  • Understanding of depot operations
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings
  • Understanding of production efficiency techniques
