DB Engineering & Consulting, a globally renowned engineering and consulting company with almost 7,000 employees and projects in more than 100 countries, has been entrusted with a major electrification project in Uzbekistan, focusing on modernizing and enhancing the country’s rail infrastructure. The project involves electrifying a 465 km railway line connecting Bukhara, Miskin, Urgench, and Khiva. This includes designing and implementing state-of-the-art railway technology, constructing electrical substations, and modernizing signaling and communication systems.


The latest projects of our office in Tashkent include the reform of certain laws regarding the Uzbek railway as well as a training program for increasing safety, reliability, economic and ecological standards of bus drivers in the city of Tashkent.


For those projects in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, we are looking for a student intern in engineering.



Responsibilities:


  • You provide support in several projects regarding the design and the construction supervision of catenary-, control-command- and signaling systems.
  • You are involved in the timely completion of the construction measures in close cooperation with the planning and project manager team as well as the external contractors.
  • You are carrying out independent work in documentation and prepare its presentation.
  • Provide support in developing and implementing project plans, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Assist in reviewing project designs, specifications, and engineering plans to ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and company guidelines.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze data from field operations, simulations, and testing to evaluate the performance of electrification components.

Qualifications:


  • You are currently enrolled as a Bachelor or Master student in an engineering field (e.g. Electrical Engineering, Railway Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering or similar).
  • Ideally, you have knowledge of and an interest in the rail industry.
  • You feel confident in using Microsoft Office, especially MS Excel and MS PowerPoint, as well as MATLAB, AutoCAD or similar software.
  • Your Russian and English skills are at a very good level (Russian - C1; English - B2)
  • further language skills (e.g. German, Uzbek) are a plus.
  • You are characterized by an independent, structured way of working and a prominent level of motivation.
  • You value agile teamwork and are a strong communicator, especially when interacting with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Your Russian and English skills are at a very good level (Russian - C1; English - B2)
  • further language skills (e.g. German, Uzbek) are a plus.
  • It is of advantage to have first practical experience, e.g. through previous internships or university projects.
