Job description

Accountability
Reporting to the LEAN Manager and Method Specialist, the Quality Auditor assists in the overall administration, execution, and coordination of the project quality management system to ensure compliance with applicable organizational, contractual, and regulatory obligations and will be a liaison in day-to-day project quality assurance activities for all phases of the project.

Responsibility
  • Plan, organize, and conduct internal and host external (ISO, regulatory, and Client) audits.
  • Prepare audit reports, audit & track NCRs, and open action item status, and assemble KPI reports and presentations.
  • Monitor and analyze non-conforming issues as per contractual, QMS, and regulatory compliance providing remedial actions to improve process performance.
  • Conduct specification and project deliverables reviews and develop project-specific quality assurance plans. 
  • Support the implementation of Quality management system and compliance with quality standards and/or contract-specific documents to maximize quality and consistency.
  • Monitor the progress and effectiveness of the project quality management system.   
  • Review various reports, analyze data, author procedures, and ensure all concerned project staff have current versions of documents applicable to their area of work.
  • Oversee quality testing and inspections, evaluate engineering, procurement, and operation and maintenance activities, and address any quality issues that may arise.
  • Develop and implement methods and procedures for monitoring work activities including inspection and testing schedules and procedures.
  • Review and evaluate subcontractors' and suppliers' adherence to quality procedures and standards. 
  • Initiate and coordinate NCRs and control the removal and replacement of non-conforming work & corrective action.
  • Facilitates the submittal process and ensures that submittals meet the contract and project requirements.
  • Attend project-related meetings concerning matters of QA function and contract specification interpretations.
Education and Qualification
  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in engineering or college diploma along with relevant experience. 
  • Advanced coursework, certification, training, or experience in quality management systems will be an asset.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in a Quality Assurance environment
  • Certification in Lean Six Sigma or other Continuous Improvement-related methodologies preferred.

Certifications or Designations

  • ISO 9001 auditor certification is required. 
  • ISO 9001 Lead auditor certification preferred.
  • ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 auditor training is an asset.

Experience
  • Applicable knowledge of the principles and practices of Quality management systems.
  • Experience in the implementation of and/or auditing ISO management systems

Competencies
  • Strong knowledge of passenger railway operations, standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Self-motivated, passionate, highly analytical and detail-oriented individual, driving growth and change in a fast-paced environment with visible results for our customers and the business.
  • Applicable knowledge of the principles and practices of Quality management systems.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, project management, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with different levels of staff, management, customers, and external partners.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Profound experience in working in complex matrix structures and in conflict management.
  • Knowledge and experience with Continuous improvement concepts (Lean, Six Sigma and Kaizen techniques) preferred. 
  • Willing to travel to local business locations as required in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
