Job description

Managing the Breakdown and Recovery Team for your area. 

Act as the Recovery Engineer when required at major derailments nationally 

Organise training where applicable with the Training & Compliance Manager.

Provide guidance and where necessary manage and provide solutions to the business for Breakdown & Recovery projects.

Conduct meeting with you teams Action KPI’S 

Accountable for all health and safety, COSHH, risk assessments, SSOW & permits. 

To manage annual leave and sickness for all staff.

Communicate effectively and build strong relationships with all functions of the business, working closely with senior Recovery Engineers. 

Ensure CCMS is kept up to date 

Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance is met at all Breakdown and Recovery locations and staff. 

Ensure that all staff always have the necessary support to remain compliant.

Ensure training exercises are carried out and adheres to all necessary standards and legislation.

Regularly review and update training requirements.

Remain competent in all Breakdown and Recovery roles.

Any other tasks within competence and deemed necessary by the post holder’s line manager.

This position is 42 hours per week.
You will have a strong desire to learn and develop professionally, using open thinking and have the ability to adapt to new ways of working.

Strong mechanical understanding. 

Involvement and experience of project management with the ability to organise and plan to set deadlines. 

Experience or knowledge of recovery on the rail network

You will have strong communication skills and feel comfortable and confident working both alone, and in a team.
 
You must possess a positive working attitude

You will also have good basic IT skills

A full UK driving licence is required for this position. 

Completion of a CMI course is desirable.

We have an opportunity for someone to join our Breakdown & Recovery Team as an Area Manager.Breakdown and Recovery is a national service that covers all the UK and we recover all rolling stock for our club members. The candidate would be required to travel, and lodge away as required. The successful candidate will carry out the day to day duties required on the depot and to work alongside the other Managers/Recovery Engineers and the Training and Compliance Manager to ensure all Breakdown and Recovery staff are fully trained and all depots stay compliant.The Recovery Engineer (Area Manager) will be required to be on an on-call roster one week in three but when trained one week in five. Please note, assessments/interviews will be held on an as and when basis to suit the availability of both the business and candidate.
