By operating freight services to and from mainland Europe via the Channel Tunnel, DB Cargo (UK) is able to directly connect into DB Cargo’s diverse European Network.At DB we believe in a strong future for rail freight and our vision is to be the first choice for rail freight in the UK.  We continue to make key investments in our people, assets and infrastructure along with bespoke in-house IT solutions, to give our customers the best service and make it easy for them to do business with us.We are currently recruiting for a Resource Assistant to join the Groundstaff Rostering Team at Bescot Resourcing Centre, on a fixed term contract basis for circa 15 months to cover a period of maternity leave. This is a challenging position with responsibility for robust and cost effective rostering and diagramming of DB Groundstaff to meet the demanding requirements of the business.

The main duties and responsibilities of the post include, but are not limited to:

  • Produce cost effective Groundstaff diagrams in line with the needs of the plan, as per customer demand with data extracted from location activity reports;
  • Produce and distribute cost effective rosters;
  • Communicate daily with front line staff including notifications to take duty, roster changes, release from duty, leave arrangements etc;
  • Identify, communicate and resolve emerging resource demand / availability conflicts;
  • Maintain leave records for front line staff;
  • Update and manage payroll adjustments and process the weekly pay for Groundstaff;
  • Update and manage Groundstaff competencies in the Rostering system (BRP);
  • Identify plans which drive poor resource utilisation and suggest solutions to improve efficiency;
  • Provide guidance and advice on matters of resource utilisation to Contract Delivery Managers and Service Delivery Managers. 

You should have:

  • Good communication skills to enable you to communicate with a wide range of colleagues;
  • Experience of IT system operation and a good working knowledge of Microsoft applications.
  • Experience in a similar role or within the rail industry would be advantageous, but is not essential.

The salary for this position is £26,870 per annum, increasing to £28,215 per annum once competent in the role.
