We are currently seeking a Senior Resident Engineer to work with us in Ireland. The focus of the role is to lead on site supervision for complex or high risk project elements, providing technical leadership to Resident Engineers, Assistant Engineers, and site teams.
Responsibilities:
- Support the ER/PM and Project Resident Engineer / Construction Supervisor in the day-to-day supervision of Phase 6 works, ensuring construction activities are delivered in accordance with the contract, approved design, specifications, programme, safety and environmental requirements.
- Lead supervision activities for allocated work fronts, disciplines or locations, undertaking inspections and surveillance of the works and ensuring that quality standards are consistently applied on site.
- Review contractor method statements, material submissions, inspection and test plans, test results and as-built information, and provide technical input on their suitability before and during execution.
- Maintain clear and accurate site records, including diaries, inspection reports, photographs, quality observations, non-conformances, progress updates and close-out actions.
- Identify defects, technical issues, emerging risks, delays and interface matters at an early stage, and support their timely resolution in coordination with the PRE/CS, ER/PM, Design Manager and contractor teams.
- Witness inspections, testing, commissioning and handover activities, verifying that completed works meet the required standards and that outstanding items are properly recorded and tracked to completion.
- Provide guidance and technical support to Resident Engineers, Assistant Resident Engineers and other site supervision staff where required, helping to maintain a consistent approach across the supervision team.
- Support compliance with Health and Safety requirements, construction assurance procedures and site controls relevant to the role, including escalation of unsafe conditions, poor workmanship or non-compliant activities.
- Contribute to Phase 7 close-out activities, including snagging, defects management, handover records, completion verification and lessons learned inputs.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in supervising major civil engineering projects (mandatory as per RfP)
- Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or relevant technical field
- Leadership, technical problem solving, quality oversight, strong communication
- Advanced ability to mentor junior engineers and supervise multi‑disciplinary site teams in high‑pressure environments
- Skilled in leading technical workshops with contractors to resolve constructability challenges and accelerate delivery
- Relevant training, certificates, professional memberships of relevant bodies are a plus
- Willingness to travel as per client and business requirements
