Reporting to the Manager IT, the IT Network Engineer II is responsible for operating and continuously improving the organization's network infrastructure, handling complex network challenges independently and contributing to the ongoing development of network standards and practices. You are successful in this role when the network is stable, secure, and well documented, complex issues are resolved with lasting fixes rather than workarounds, and the overall network function improves through your involvement over time.
Responsibilities:
- Own and resolve complex network incidents and escalations across LAN, WAN, and Wi-Fi infrastructure, ensuring root causes are addressed and not just symptoms.
- Design and implement network configurations for new locations, expansions, and infrastructure changes, translating requirements into reliable and secure solutions.
- Continuously review and improve network standards and operating procedures, proposing updates based on operational experience and emerging best practice.
- Oversee DNS, DHCP, and IPAM services, ensuring they are secure, well maintained, and fit for a growing organization.
- Monitor network performance and security posture proactively, identifying risks and capacity constraints before they affect users.
- Implement and maintain network security controls including firewall rules, access control lists, and Zero Trust application access policies, aligned to the organization's security baseline.
- Provide technical guidance to the IT Network Engineer I, supporting their development through day-to-day collaboration and knowledge sharing.
- Participate actively in change management processes, assessing network impact of planned changes and ensuring safe and well-documented implementation.
Qualifications:
- Practical experience in enterprise networking is what matters here — formal education in IT or a related field is welcome but not required.
- 4-6 years of hands-on experience in network engineering or infrastructure, with a track record of independently resolving complex network issues.
- Deep working knowledge of routing protocols, switching, VLANs, firewalls, and Wi-Fi in an enterprise environment.
- Experienced with network security concepts including access control, network segmentation, and Zero Trust application access.
- Comfortable contributing to the improvement of standards and procedures, not just following them.
- Strong troubleshooting instincts with a preference for permanent fixes over workarounds.
- Clear communicator, able to document complex network configurations and explain technical decisions to non-specialist colleagues.
- Relevant certifications are a plus, particularly Cisco CCNA or CCNP.
- Arabic required; strong professional English essential.
