SQL Server DBA Specialist

Job Overview

At Schenker International S.A. de C.V. we are looking for a SQL Server DBA Specialist to be part of our IT team, for our office in Guadalajara, Mexico, who will accuracy and completeness of data in master files and various support tools and will be responsible for planning computerized databases.

What will be your challenges?

• Plan database growth to ensure adequate disk space is available for table spaces and indices.
• Monitor logs for proactive information and possible problems related to database and application issues.
• Define security and access privileges to data. Implement database security.
• Provide support to the application development teams; respond to ad hoc query requests, specify how programmers will access data when appropriate, and application performance tuning.
• Be fluent with all data definitions and insure consistent use of them by applications.
• Create stored procedures and objects inside the database.
• Provide design, configuration, and support for interfaces to external systems when appropriate.
• Engage support organizations for technical assistance when issues are escalated.
• Create, modify, and delete user accounts and responsibilities; monitor concurrent process workload; define, monitor, and optimize application performance for the various concurrent manager processes; register and define peripheral devices; maintain application environment; setup and verify security profiles to limit Business Unit System Administrator capabilities; define, implement, and troubleshoot workflow, alerts and flexfields; advanced end-user support where approved.
• In conjunction with system support personnel, define database backup and recovery methodology to ensure database can be recovered in case of hardware failure, application failure or data corruption.

What you need to succeed (Qualifications, experience, skills, attributes)

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent strongly preferred in IT.
• Prefer 8-10 years of experience supporting SQL server databases in an enterprise environment.

• In depth Database Administration experience in
  1. SQL Always-on
  2. Optimization of SQL queries and stored procedures.
  3. Assist developers and end-users with database usage, query development and tuning.
  4. SQL server replication.
  5. Veeam SQL backups.
  6. SQL server databases in VMware and Azure native cloud.
  7. MySQL database administration.
  8. Idera Diagnostic monitor.

• Experience with App and DBA monitoring best practices/proactive monitoring.
• Data Loss Prevention and security best practices experience.
• Database migration experience (technical side).
• SSL certificate administration experience not required but will be a plus.

• Proficient English skills in reading, writing and speaking for clear communication with global teams.
• Strong problem-solving abilities to troubleshoot integration issues and optimize workflows.

• Exceptional interpersonal and analytical skills.
