Job description

Responsibilities:


  • Develop, validate, challenge, and implement rail vehicle procurement strategies and initiatives
  • Support and advise our clients in all stages of their rolling stock procurement process, from preparation to implementation
  • Review procurement documents and provide subject matter expert advice to our clients
  • Lead and/or support work packages related in rolling stock procurement and other rail related topics
  • Develop and maintain productive relationships internally and externally
  • Create visuals that explain complex technical issues for a non-technical audience
  • Manage risks and opportunities 
  • Mentor and coach junior staff


  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, economics, finance, or related field
  • At least 10 years of in-depth experience in rolling stock procurement (strategy and implementation)
  • At least 5 years of in-depth experience in vehicle engineering and design of high-speed and conventional intercity passenger rail   vehicles
  • Experienced with all stages of the rolling stock procurement process, including                                                                                       
    • Drafting / reviewing technical requirements and other documents about the procurement process
    • Bid evaluation (financial and technical), selection, and supplier negotiations
    • Performing/supervising design reviews, testing, and commissioning
    • Planning/executing supplier development
    • Contract and warranty management                                                                                                                                              
  • Knowledge of:                                                                                                                                                                                         
    • Best practices and international benchmarks in rolling procurement
    • Regulatory and “Buy America” requirements and compliance 
    • Infrastructure topics at the interface to rolling stock (track & systems, stations, and digital / passenger information systems
    • Rolling stock maintenance                                                                                                                                                             
  • Strategy consulting experience or similar
  • Capable of navigating complex topics in a high-profile stakeholder environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and public presentation skills
  • Business-oriented mindset and mature management of client relationships
  • Team player with a resilient, flexible, independent, and well-structured working approach


We offer an annual gross salary between $160-200k for full-time employment, depending on professional qualifications and experience.
