We are seeking a System Assurance & RAMS Expert as part of our DB Engineering & Consulting GmbH Branch Office.

Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the implementation of all system assurance activities related to the project, e.g. - but not limited to: RAMS - Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Safety in compliance with EN 50126 and related standards, e.g., EN 62267, related to Railway Safety.
- Review of existing Client’s Project assurance, safety and RAM management systems and respective provisions in the Works contracts to endorse or recommend changes.
- Management, coordination and integration of Project’s System Assurance and RAMS processes, studies, activities performed and delivered by the various Client’s contractors in order to assure systems safety for the whole railway project with all of its three Lots.
- Have an advisory and acceptance role on issues related to systems and civil related RAMS, on issues related to assessments of systems and civil safety and provide guidance throughout the entire safety certification procedure.
- Review, assessment and approval of the Contractors’ Systems Assurance studies and deliverables and all updates for compliance against the Contract Documents and Employer’s requirements and ensure the deliverables are fit for purpose or make recommendations for improvement.
- Review and approve the Safety Cases required as issued by the Contractors and liaise with the ISA and Employer to ensure all parties are in agreement or resolve any issue raised.
- Ensure compliance to the applicable legislation and statutory requirements, latest railway systems and security standards, and all customer specific requirements.
- Management and monitoring the implementation of the Engineering Safety Case Plan.
- Ensure that the Contractor(s) implements system RAM requirements defined in the Contract documents, provides all necessary assistance to the Independent Safety Assessor (ISA) for the review of such safety submissions and monitor the Contractor’s efficient response and actions to close the ISA comments. Report on progress against this issue.
- Review, approve and monitor implementation of Contractors’ Verification and validation plans, and Configuration control plans.
- Ensuring implementation of all RAM ad Safety related tasks into the testing and activity processes in close cooperation with the Team’s Testing and Commissioning Manager.
- Analysing the reliability and availability of designs and systems, identifying failures, assessing their consequences and following the Contractors to develop appropriate control measures.
- Monitor progress of the Contractors’ Hazard Logs, their regular updating and implementation of the Control Measures to demonstrate the achievement of the safety requirements. Special focus shall be on safety-related application conditions (SRACs) between Contractors and with the future operator and maintainer.
- Ensure implementation of the Hazard Management process and the stages of implementation verification, validation, hazard transfer and acceptance.
- Planning, developing, investigating and reviewing incident, emergency and crisis management process.
- Provide organizational and technical guidance as well as train Client’s staff and maintain close coordination with the project stakeholders.
- Facilitate and schedule meetings regularly with the Project team to provide project updates/progress and share and follow up on relevant information as well as safety committee meetings, encouraging open communication and collaboration on safety-related issues.
Qualifications:
- M.Sc. or B.Sc. degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in the field of Railway signalling, Systems Assurance and RAMS for mainline railway projects.
- Minimum 7 years’ experience in a similar working position.
- Knowledge of risk analysis techniques e.g., FMECA, SHA/IHA, O&SHA, FTY, LOPA, SIL, cost benefits analysis and quantitative/ qualitative risk analysis
- Knowledge in RAMS calculations and demonstrations e.g., FMECA, RSCIL, RBD and FRACAS, Monte Carlo Analysis, etc.
- Knowledge of EN50126, EN50128, EN50129 and IEC61508 and other relevant standards.
- Previous experience with comparable projects in the Middle East region would be advantage.
- Full computer literacy.
- Excellent knowledge of English Language; Knowledge of Arabic language is an advantage.
