Chief Operating Officer (f/m/d)

Deutsche Bahn International Operations GmbH is a part of the DB group, a world-leading global railway company with an extensive organization in Germany and projects around the world. Our company offers a technically sophisticated and customized infrastructure, mobility and transport solutions. We acquire, initiate and manage rail operations and maintenance projects outside Europe. We are looking for transport and mobility enthusiasts and entrepreneurs with long-standing experience in railway operations and projects in India or worldwide. 

We are currently seeking you as our Chief Operating Officer for our CMRL Phase 2 Project to build up and manage the operation and maintenance of the Chennai Metro Phase 2 with GOA4 in India. The role will include developing a local operations & maintenance (O&M) company from scratch to full operations, developing and leading a passionate and performance driven team, steering quality, performance and customer satisfaction as well as ensuring economic success in India.

Responsibilities

• Report to the CEO and ensure the economic success of the company together with the Managing Director and the Head of Maintenance 
• Ensure the management of the operation of the project Chennai Mtro Phase 2 GOA4 including train and station operation
• Have overall responsibility for the achievement of all operational relevant KPIs and internal targets
• Have the overall responsibility for the safe operation of Chennai Metro Phase and for the implementation of the Safety Management System (SMS)
• Ensure all relevant personnel resources for the operation 
• Ensure the management for the optimal use of resources (Rolling Stock, Stations, …)
• Continuously improve the operation process with regards to safety, quality and cost efficiency
• Ensure the planning of vehicle circulation and duty rosters for operational personnel 
• Ensure the planning and provision of the budget of the operation department

Qualifications

• You have a Master´s or Bachelor´s Degree in Engineering/Transport/Mechanics/ Electronics/Electrical or Civil Engineering 
• You have at least 10 years of professional experience in the Rail Sector holding responsibilities of operations of Trains, OCC, DCC and Stations Management
• You have at least 3 years of experience as Head Operating Officer / Deputy Head or in an equivalent capacity of a Metro System with GoA3/GoA4 grade of automation
• Preferable experience in setup of a new rail transportation system
• You have strong leadership skills 
• You should be able to demonstrate a broad knowledge across all rail engineering aspects and maintenance 
• You speak English at an advanced level of written and verbal skill; Tamil language will be an added advantage
• You are multi skilled over a number of disciplines and possess analytical skills for problem solving
• You have the ability to train technicians and pass on experience and knowledge
• You have a high strategic orientation, people management skills and the ability to communicate effectively
• Good negotiation skills, the concern for order/ attention to details and the ability to think conceptual rounds off your profile
• You must be willing to move your primary residence to Chennai Area for at least 2-3 years
