We acquire, initiate and manage rail operations and maintenance projects outside Europe. We are looking for transport and mobility enthusiasts and entrepreneurs with long-standing experience in railway operations and projects in India or worldwide. 

We are currently seeking you as Chief Safety Officer for our Chennai Metro Phase 2 Project to build up and manage the operation and maintenance of the Chennai Metro Phase 2 with GOA4 in India. The role will include developing a local operations & maintenance (O&M) company from scratch to full operations, developing and leading a passionate and performance driven team, steering quality, performance and customer satisfaction as well as ensuring economic success in India.


Responsibilities


  • Report directly to the CEO
  • Have the functional responsibility of ensuring safety and quality of a GoA4 Metro system.
  • Be responsible for the planning and the implementation of the O&M Safety and Quality Management System of the GoA4 Metro System 
  • Be responsible for integrating the applicable environmental aspects into the O&M Safety and Quality Management System
  • Be responsible for the Occupational Health and Safety throughout the company
  • Provide leadership and direction in all areas of risk assessment, risk control, regulatory compliance and safety programs including strategic planning and companywide collaboration
  • Be responsible for the implementation of all necessary safety/quality procedures
  • Ensure short- and long-term organizational HSQE (Health, Safety, Quality and Environment) 
  • Ensure the controlling and monitoring of RAMS (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, Safety) 
  • Ensure the implementation of SMS (Safety Management System) in the organization
  • Advise the Managing Director on appropriate risk management policies, procedures and issues of safety, focusing on prevention
  • Ensure that contract documents are reviewed with respect to the safety/quality requirements and procedures and will provide advice to responsible managers about any deficiency
  • Review inspection, test and plans and will ensure compliance with safety requirements
  • Ensure all activities on site are compliant with the effective safety/quality procedures
  • Oversee clients’ Safety Audits

Qualifications


  • You have a Master´s or Bachelor´s Degree in Engineering or Science 
  • You have a minimum 10 years of professional experience in maintenance of safety in Rail Sector in one or more sub systems namely Signalling, Traction and Track of a Metro System
  • You have at least 5 years of experience in Safety of a Metro System or Rail System out of the above mentioned 10 years
  • You have strong leadership skills 
  • You hold certifications in safety, quality and occupational health & safety (certification in security welcome)
  • You have a track record of developing and implementing quality management programs and / or safety management programs 
  • You speak English at an advanced level of written and verbal skill; Tamil language will be an added advantage
  • You are multi skilled over a number of disciplines and possess analytical skills for problem solving
  • You have the ability to train technicians and pass on experience and knowledge
  • You have good knowledge of HSQE regulations and Safety Management or Safety Engineering (e.g. ISO 9001, OHAS-18000, ISO 14001)
  • You have good knowledge of hazard/risk analysis to address health/safety issues and good knowledge of insurance and loss control theory and practice
  • You are familiar with risk management issues related to the design and construction of physical facilities
  • You have a high strategic orientation, people management skills and the ability to communicate effectively
  • Good negotiation skills, the concern for order/ attention to details and the ability to think conceptual rounds off your profile
  • You must be willing to move your primary residence to Chennai Area for at least 2-3 years
