The position offers an opportunity to gain international experience and be a part of an innovative rail design team, working together to develop solutions for future railways. We are seeking for an experienced Geotechnical Technician.
Responsibilities:
- Become familiar with Rail Baltica Design Guidelines, site-specific requirements for geotechnical works, and relevant parts of the current design documentation to support on-site activities.
- Supervise and coordinate the work of ground investigation (GI) subcontractors onsite to ensure that drilling, sampling, and testing activities are conducted according to project specifications and general ISO standards, agreed methods, and safety standards.
- Conduct the soil and rock logging according to LST ISO EN 14688-1, LST ISO EN 14688-2, LST EN ISO 14689
- Assist with the management and documentation of ground investigation works, including overseeing in situ testing, and ensuring correct handling and transport of samples.
- Review daily or weekly worksite logs and the initial findings from geotechnical investigation activities for accuracy and compliance, flagging deviations or issues to appropriate personnel.
- Support the interpretation and summarization of test data by preparing documentation and preliminary observations, under the direction of senior staff. Support in preparing the ground investigation support
- Assist in access conditions, communication with the land owners and check if all necessary permits on site
- Maintain ongoing communication with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to report progress, raise field issues, and help ensure smooth site operations.
Qualifications:
- University degree in Engineering Geology, Geology, Civil or Geotechnical Engineering or equivalent.
- Experience as an Engineering Geologist in managing site contractors and soil logging of glacial deposits.
- Broad knowledge and understanding of civil and geotechnical engineering with practical supervision experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to build relationships with colleagues and provide geotechnical support in key sectors.
- Proven experience in site investigation planning and management.
- Geotechnical experience including shallow and deep foundations, settlement assessment, retaining walls, ground improvement and slope stability analysis.
- At least 2 years' professional experience in the relevant field.
- Authorization to carry out geotechnical investigations in accordance with the legislation of the country of origin.
- Proficiency in both Lithuanian and English - B2 level in English and mother tongue in Lithuanian. Polish and Latvian skills would be beneficial.
The salary for this position ranges from €2,500 to €3,200 gross per month, depending on experience and qualifications.
