We are seeking an experienced and skilled local Environmental & Social Impact Assessment Management Specialist (m/f/d) for a Railway Infrastructure Project in Egypt. The Environmental & Social Impact Assessment Management Specialist will oversee the environmental and social aspects of the railway construction supervision project. This role includes conducting impact assessments, managing mitigation strategies, and providing expertise in resettlement processes to ensure project compliance with relevant standards and policies.

Responsibilities:

Impact Assessment: Conduct comprehensive environmental and social impact assessments to identify potential project impacts and develop mitigation strategies.
Resettlement Planning: Develop and implement resettlement plans that address the needs and rights of affected communities, ensuring fair and respectful treatment.
Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with communities, governmental agencies, and other stakeholders to communicate project impacts and mitigation measures, fostering trust and collaboration.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all project activities comply with environmental and social regulations and standards, including resettlement policies.
Monitoring and Reporting: Develop monitoring frameworks to track the effectiveness of mitigation strategies and resettlement plans, preparing detailed reports on findings and progress.
Expert Consultation: Provide expert guidance on environmental and social aspects of the project, offering solutions and strategies to address complex challenges effectively.

Qualifications:

We particularly welcome applications from candidates with professional experience in the Egyptian construction sector, including familiarity with local regulations, language, and working culture.

University degree in Environmental Engineering or a related field.
Proven expertise in demonstrated resettlement activities/ projects.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in environmental & social studies in railway infrastructure projects.
Practical knowledge and understanding of EBRD’s environmental and social requirements and experience of assistance in their successful implementation.
Excellent communication, and negotiation skills.
IT and relevant software proficiency.
Fluency in English, Arabic would be a plus.
