What will you be doing?

You will be a leader and manager for a team of staff including Groundstaff and Train Drivers, working in collaboration with the other Operations Managers across the area

Flow Management that is specific to our customers - understanding what the requirement is for the flows and delivering it.

Performance monitoring including OTIF and Performance Support Tool.

Optimisation of Employee workload through efficient planning.

Contribute to Route learning through initial brief and final sign off 

Local Inductions including Contractors, New Employees and Visitors 

Attendance to customer review meetings, ensuring queries are resolved and sufficient resource is planned for workflows and customer demands. 

Management of on site contractors for your hub.

Promote a performance feedback culture within the business to improve on safety incidents and conduct employee training needs analysis and progress review meetings. 

Manage compliance to safety critical medical standards including restrictions and applicable risk assessments.

Lead on the recruitment of your area, working with the Talent Acquisition Team to attract top talent to the business. 

Develop collaborative working relationships with Network Rail and participate at Safety & Performance meetings.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives.

1st Line on call responsibility including initial investigations & Chain of Care 

Assist with Internal & External Audits and develop action plans to address non compliance 

Liaise with the Loading Standards Inspector for draft loading patterns and comparative load checks 

Management of Tenants and Property related workload within your area of responsibility 

Within this role, you may be required to be involved in short / long term projects as required by the business or customer. In such an event, there will be a successor / deputy who will continue to ensure the core tasks are carried out

What are we looking for? 

Our ideal candidate will come from within the rail industry and hold a current Train Driver license

DB Cargo UK is currently recruiting for an Operations Manager to join our operations department based at our Westbury hub.  As Operations Manager, you’ll be ensuring that safety performance, customer service delivery, competence and compliance and line management responsibilities are carried out, in line with the strategy at DB Cargo UK.  We are looking for a leader to maintain a high standard of service delivery which is direct and indirect with our customers. This is an integral position within our business to ensure our front-line staff are working in collaboration with our customers.
