We are seeking a Social Risk Management Expert as part of our DB Engineering & Consulting GmbH Branch Office. The job opening is located in Cairo, Egypt, and offers the opportunity to lead a team and use your proven team management and communication skills.


Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for identifying, analyzing, and mitigating social risks that may impact the project, operations, reputation and stakeholder relationships.
  • Deep understanding of social dynamics, cultural contexts, and emerging trends that may pose challenges to the organization.
  • Collaboration with various departments to develop strategies and implement measures to manage and mitigate social risk effectively.
  • Knowledge in development and implementation of social risk management policies and guidelines aligned with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Supervision of the implementation of the approved Environmental, Social and Health and Safety Management Plans
  • Develop and implement crisis response plans to address social issues and mitigate reputational damage.
  • Undertake audits, supervisions and/or inspections of any sites where the Contractor is undertaking activities under its contract, to verify the Contractor’s compliance with ES requirements.
  • Investigation of root causes of accidents/ incidents and oversee implementation of Corrective action plans, implementation of associated corrective measures and action plans.
  • Prepare regular reports for senior management, highlighting key social risk indicators, mitigation measures and progress.
  • Meeting regularly with the Project team to provide project updates/progress and share and identify potential issues related to community relations, stakeholder engagement, human rights and cultural sensitivities.
  • Assisting in the preparation of progress reports and typing deliverables in English
  • Attending project meetings / workshops for technical input and follow up environmental risk management related matters.
  • Strong background in coordination of activities of Contractor and Client.
Qualifications:

  • M.Sc. or B.Sc. degree in Social Sciences, Environmental Studies, Business Ethics, or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in social risk management, stakeholder engagement or corporate social responsibility in transport projects.
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in similar working position.
  • Knowledge in development and implementation of social risk management policies and guidelines of IFI’s aligned with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex social dynamics.
  • Familiarity with relevant social risk regulations and standards.
  • Experience in Crisis management is a plus.
  • Previous experience with comparable projects in the Middle East region would be advantage.
  • Full computer literacy.
  • Excellent knowledge of English Language; Arabic language is an advantage.
  • Driving license required in order to perform assigned duties.
