What will you be doing?
Monitor progress against plan in terms of budget, materials provision, vehicle presentation and work done.
Develop and implement action plans to address any shortfalls.
Review specifications for new work.
Produce condition and production reports
Develop, facilitate, and lead continuous improvement projects to meet business requirements.
Contribute to maintaining a high level of employee engagement through transformational management style.
Manage compliance, competencies and KPIs. This will include, but not limited to, reporting vehicles under maintenance and repair on the relevant system (e.g. TOPS/Maximo), ensuring staff competencies and training remain compliant and in date and controlling costs in line with the budget.
Ensure Area requirements for delivery of Traction & Rolling Stock are met on a day-to-day basis.
Support and carry out relevant training to ensure that you are driving talent development within your team.
Manage discipline and grievances when required in line with company policy.
Update and amend RA and SSOW and write new Engineering procedures with the support of GTS.
Address staffing shortfalls ensure staff welfare and ensure daily safety briefings are carried out including safety boards.
Responsible for general Health and Safety whilst on the depot, safety tours and IPE’s, updating staff of any amendments.
Ensure staff competencies remain compliant and in date and updated on the appropriate systems.
Cost control depot expenditure per month.
Carry out PTS and DP Training.
Cover Maintenance Control when required.
Responsible for compliance of Plant and Equipment.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for a leader with an engineering background who is experienced in leading diverse engineering maintenance with knowledge of traction and rolling stock.
An NVQ Level 3 in an engineering discipline.
Experience in project management would also be an advantage for this role as you’ll play a part in making key decisions for you team.
You will be a transformational leader, working well with your team and the wider business
Possession of any of the below would be highly advantageous;
IOSH (or equivalent)
Accident investigation course
Managing disciplines course
Unit 339
Personal track safety
Competent in rules and regulations appropriate to the post
Train the Trainer and Assessor Training

At DB Cargo UK, we're looking for a Traction and Rolling Stock Maintenance Manager to join us at our Toton depot. The Traction and Rolling Stock Maintenance Manager will lead and direct the Traction and Rolling Stock maintenance activity at the depot to ensure cost effective maintenance and repair of the fleet in accordance with laid down technical, safety and quality standards in order to meet all business requirements.They will be responsible for ensuring that all targets set by the Depot Manager are met, along with developing, facilitating and leading continuous improvement projects.
