We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Engineering Director (m/f/d) with an extensive experience in the railway industry for a Technical Advisory program for OSE in Athens, Greece. As Engineering Director you will be responsible to establish an efficient engineering project delivery and control organization for the Greek Railways in collaboration with both DB E&C team members and the client OSE to ensure successful and sustainable implemen-tation. Your focus will be on ensuring the achievement of the program’s goals and collaboration of the internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities:
- Strategic control of engineering projects for network renovation, modernization and expansion, investment projects and funding
- Long-term infrastructure strategy development aligned with national transport plans
- Participation in medium-term planning
- Coordination with maintenance regarding planned investments
- Initiate a lifecycle-based asset management model for infrastructure and rolling stock management
- Embed preventive maintenance, digital diagnostics, and safety KPIs into the organization
- Establish clear revenue models for infrastructure access, rolling stock leasing, and service-level agreements
- Budget control and accountability for investments and replacements
- Standardize contract and stakeholder management, ensuring transparency, and cost-effective commercial engagements
- Create a central Program Management Office (PMO) for major projects
- Contribution to tenders and selection of suitable bidders
- Standardize processes for budgeting, approvals, tracking, and reporting across all projects
- Promote a culture of analytics to optimize asset utilization and maintenance planning
- Create clear lines of accountability and risk ownership across functions
Qualifications:
- To be considered for this role, candidates must have prior experience in the railway industry.
- Successfully completed university degree in business, engineering, project management or similar and relevant professional experience in a comparable, complex role
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in similar tasks
- Certification in project management such as PMP
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in leadership
- Experience in the field of infrastructure investment planning
- Experience in managing tenders for railway infrastructure
- You impress with your impartial moderation skills and intercultural sensitivity
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Fluency in English mandatory; German and Greek would be an advantage
- Familiarity with Greek administrative business standards
