The Haramain High-Speed Railway Project is a standard-gauge, high-speed railway running between Makkah and Madinah which was constructed between 2009 and 2018 and currently serves five stations.

The HHR Project is a key enabler of Vision 2030 to improve infrastructure and services for pilgrims undertaking the Umrah pilgrimage, to support the development of a vibrant and sustainable tourism industry, and to boost connectivity between current cities and megaprojects under development.

What will we do?

DB will be supporting the uninterrupted continuation of operations at the HHR Project by providing technical and management expertise to the client, SAR.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for Operations Manager, Head of Train Operations and OCC, Maintenance Manager, Head of Systems Maintenance, Head of Building and Stations Maintenance, Contract Manager, Head of Stations Asset Management and Safety Manager.

This project is part of a goal to increase local spending and diversify the Saudi economy under Saudi Vision 2030. The project is supported by the Public Investment Fund. According to the organizers, the total number of annual visitors will reach 17 million by 2030, making the city the largest tourism destination worldwide.

What will we do?

DB will support Qiddiya with consulting on construction logistics based on DB’s expertise and experience, developing plans ensuring that the city logistics can support efficient construction operations. DB will develop plans to optimize the usability of the city’s construction assets (location and sizing of assets).

The CML2 project is currently in the bid stage. CML2 has been in operation since 1996, conveys 2.2 million passengers a day, and has a total length of 21.5 km and 20 stations. It suffers from obsolescence, a lack of modern comforts and increasing passenger demand. The goal of this project is to meet the growing capacity demands, extend the metro’s lifespan by 25 years, prevent spare parts shortages, upgrade existing systems, add new features and maintain operational consistency with planned extensions in cooperation with our client, the National Authority of Tunnels.

What will we do?

Procurement and project implementation support, supervision of the construction works and assistance with the environmental and social management for the upgrade and rehabilitation of the metro line. The main disciplines include signaling/train control, telecom, power supply and certain track works.

Who are we looking for?

Our team will include a Project Manager managing all the components of the Project. It will also include key and non-key experts for signaling, track renewal, electrification/third rail, power supply, telecommunications, and RAMS for all phases of the execution of the Project, comprising design, execution, testing, commissioning and handing over.

Due to the high demand in public transportation, Israel Railways seeks to expand and fully utilize its capacities in passenger transportation. This resulted in Israel Railways’ decision to electrify the whole network in order to operate more trains in less time and to expand its existing infrastructure with new lines as well as upgrading the entire performance of the railways.

The Program’s aim is the electrification of 420 km of double-track lines, including 14 transformer substations, 2 SCADA operation centers, communication systems, immunization and alteration of the signaling system, refurbishment and new construction of depots and workshops, as well as the purchase and taking into operation of new vehicles and the refurbishment of existing rolling stock.

What will we do?

DB provides managerial and technical consulting and expertise to the program through a framework agreement divided into several task orders. The company provided technical expertise for preparation and evaluation of the tenders.

Our experts review all technical documentation for design, interfaces, materials, testing and commissioning, training, system safety and maintenance in order to support ISR readiness for electrified operation. These experts develop rules and procedures for electrified operation, assist in recruiting and training new dedicated employees, and consult for the safety cases for Israel Railways’ permission to operate and maintenance management.

Who are we looking for?

Our team will include traction power experts, OCS Experts, Senior OCS & Training Experts, Rolling Stock Engineer and Technical Design Manager, to name just some of the key experts.

This project is currently in the bid stage. The 303 km railway will primarily link Sohar to Abu Dhabi and will feature the best international safety, security and environmental standards in order to provide faster and safer passenger and freight services.

The passenger trains are designed to reduce travel time from Sohar to Abu Dhabi to 1 hour 40 minutes, and from Sohar to Al Ain to 47 minutes, traveling at a maximum speed of 200 km/h. Freight trains will run up to 120 km/h. The Project connects to and will be fully integrated into the current and proposed Regional GCC railway network.

What will we do?

The project from our end will be procured and delivered through a series of Client Contracts packages for Design and Build (railway infrastructure, facilities) and Supply of Rolling Stock and Yellow Plant. The railway infrastructure works (civil and track) will be tendered in three Design and Build (lump sum) packages.
