We are seeking a Engineering Manager RSSTDP (f/m/d) as a part of our DB Engineering & Consulting GmbH Abu Dhabi. The job opening is in Abu Dhabi, UAE, and offers exciting challenges and potential for career growth.


Responsibilities:
  • Oversee, coordinate, and integrate all project elements for rail systems, power, rolling stock, depot, and track to ensure a safe and reliable operational railway.
  • Manage the full project lifecycle, including design, procurement, manufacturing, construction, testing and commissioning, integration, trial operations, certification, and closure.
  • Manage project related change requests documents including preparing and submitting all the supporting document/information and attend/participate in the relevant change committee(s)
  • Adopt the Client’s document numbering system and structure and document templates. Verification & compliance with the Codification, Numbering system, Legends, Index etc
  • Participate in the weekly Design and Engineering Progress meetings to ensure the Client’s Contractors and their designers are meeting the required Design and Engineering output.
  • Integrated approval of the individual design packages and to ensure all key interfaces (inter-discipline and inter-Package / Contract) are fully resolved through the various design stages
  • Maintain Tracking system & Engineering Dashboards. Consolidate multi-discipline design/engineering progress, KPIs, risks/changes, and interfaces. Coordinate approvals, update the change register. Maintain Requirements traceability, and V&V
  • Review, approve and monitor the implementation of the Client Contractors’ configuration control plan that will define a process to maintain consistency across the design of the various components of the railway system (Rail Systems, Power, Rolling Stock, Depot and Track)
  • Arrange and conduct value engineering workshops to identify specific elements which may lead to time and cost savings
  • Ensure the Client’s Contractors develop a detailed and integrated Design, Packaging Strategy, which is aligned with the Key Dates outlined in the respective Contracts
  • Ensure rigorous inspection for safety- and operation-critical components
  • Oversee off-site manufacturing and assembly of high-speed rolling stock with audits, site visits, and tests. Supervise First Article Inspections (FAI) and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT); review and approve documentation before shipping to site
  • Monitor and approve testing and commissioning, ensuring all test plans and reports fulfil requirements
  • Review and authorize material approvals to ensure compliance with technical and contractual standards
  • Provide input for field changes, non-conformance cases, and site modifications
  • Support project integration in coordination with the operator to ensure safe and timely system integration
  • Review, endorse and approve the Client’s Contractor Design submissions for submission to relevant approving authorities or stakeholders as required by these
  • Guarantee delivery of the Safety Verification Plan and ensure project certification upholds contractual and safety standards
  • Oversee integration and interface testing across all railway-related systems and subsystems

Qualifications:

  • University degree (preferably Master’s and/or Chartered Engineer status)
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in management of design and/or construction of rail projects in the required field
  • Experience in delivering High-Speed Rail (HSR) projects is mandatory
  • Previous experience in the same role on a project of similar size
  • Local Experience in Middle East and/or UAE project experience is advantageous
  • Fluent in spoken and written English ins mandatory; Arabic language skills would be an advantage
  • Skills in project integration, contract/commercial management, claims, scheduling, change/configuration management, cost control, stakeholder engagement, risk management, system assurance, RAMS, quality, HSSE, worker welfare, interface management, and operational readiness
  • Ability to manage delivery of rail systems, depot, simulator, trackwork, power supply (LV/MV and traction), and HSR rolling stock, including maintenance equipment
