SRB - Railway Metro Systems Assurance & Systems Engineer - Belgrade

We are looking for a Railway Metro Systems Assurance & Systems Engineer for Deutsche Bahn Engineering & Consulting Serbia as the PMC/ Engineer on the Belgrade Metro Line 1 Project, Serbia.

In this position, you will play a key role in safeguarding the technical integrity, compliance and readiness of the metro system throughout the project lifecycle. Acting as part of the Owner’s/PMC project team, you will support the Project Manager and discipline experts by ensuring that system requirements, standards and assurance processes are consistently applied and verified. You will contribute to structured reviews, risk‑based decision making and the transparent communication of technical status, supporting the achievement of project milestones, approvals and acceptance. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple technical disciplines and stakeholders.

Your responsibilities:

• Act as Owner’s/PMC technical expert for Systems Assurance & Systems Engineering across the metro & metro subsystems throughout the project lifecycle & system engineering.
• Develop, implement and monitor the project Systems Assurance Plan, Systems Engineering, Strategy and compliance frameworks in line with applicable international and local standards (EN 50126 / 50128 / 50129, CENELEC) for the Metro Line1 delivery into operation in accordance with international standards & Serbian Law.
• Develop assurance with contractor for the technical acceptance of the Rolling Stock by the Serbian Rail Authorities in accordance with international practice.
• Coordinate with contractors in the development & delivery of the contractor’s project Systems Assurance & Systems Engineering Plans, Strategies and compliance activities.
• Lead and manage the review and acceptance of contractor deliverables (including system architectures, safety cases/reports, RAMS, verification, validation, and certification), coordinating PMC discipline experts locally and remotely.
• Ensure traceability between Employer’s Requirements, system specifications, design deliverables and verification evidence. 
• Coordinate and participate in technical, system safety, and interface reviews across design and implementation stages, liaising with Railway Systems and Civils PMC teams.
• Monitor closure of non conformities, deviations and technical risks, ensuring timely implementation of corrective actions. 
• Oversee assurance activities during design, manufacturing, installation, testing, commissioning, trial operation and acceptance phases.
• Support the Chief Systems Engineer in technical decision-making, risk management, stakeholder communication, and reporting; coordinate with contractors and ISAs, review ISA reports, and advise on acceptance of safety and systems engineering deliverables.

Your profile:

• University degree in engineering (e.g. Electrical, Mechanical, Civils Systems, Railway or Transportation Engineering) 
• Minimum of five years of proven experience in light rail, metro or major railway projects in systems assurance, system engineering, safety or RAMS roles, preferably in a PMC or Owner’s Engineer environment.
• Solid knowledge of international railway standards, certification and approval processes 
• Experience in reviewing complex contractor documentation and managing compliance and verification processes 
• Structured, analytical and risk aware engineering mindset with a strong quality focus 
• Experience working in multidisciplinary and multicultural project teams 
• Excellent written and spoken English; Serbian languages skills would be an asset
• Willingness to travel as per business requirements
