We are looking for a Railway Systems Project Engineer to lead and coordinate the Rolling Stock, Depot Work Equipment, Traction Power, PSD, Track activities for Deutsche Bahn Engineering & Consulting Serbia as the PMC/ Engineer on the Belgrade Metro Line 1 Project, Serbia.
In this position, you will play an essential role in ensuring the smooth integration and end‑to‑end functionality of all metro systems within the project. Working closely with the Project Manager and technical teams, you will support the coordination of interfaces, integration activities and technical alignment between contractors, systems and disciplines. Your contribution will help translate complex technical interfaces into manageable integration solutions, support informed project decisions and ensure readiness for testing and commissioning phases. This role requires a structured, solution‑oriented mindset, strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a complex, multidisciplinary project environment.
Responsibilities:
- Act as the on-site project engineer supporting the Chief Systems Engineer in managing end to end railway system delivery of Rolling Stock, Depot Work Equipment, Traction Power, PSD, Track works from the contractor as the PMC/ Engineer.
- Review of the contractor works for Rolling Stock, Depot Equipment, Traction Power, Platform Screen Doors (PSD), and Track for acceptance together with the specific discipline experts.
- Manage the review, acceptance of the contractors’ deliverables, leading the PMC discipline experts in coordinated review activity, on-site & remote.
- Coordination with PMC local domain experts on adherence to local laws of the contractors’ deliverables & activities.
- Ensure seamless physical and functional interface integration between all systems.
- Validate technical specifications against international railway standards and client requirements.
- Monitor Testing and Commissioning (T&C) activities and review RAMS documentation.
- Coordinate with the PMC Railway Systems team & Civils Team on the delivery of the PMC works.
- Develop and deliver the Railway Systems Delivery Strategy for Rolling Stock, Depot Work Equipment, Traction Power, PSD, Track in alignment with the Project Execution Plan.
- Coordinate technical interfaces between civil works, track, power supply, signalling, telecoms, rolling stock, and depot systems leading the specific discipline experts.
- Ensure consistent definition, management and validation of interfaces via Interface Control Documents (ICDs) leading the specific discipline experts.
- Plan, coordinate and monitor system integration, testing and commissioning activities (SIT, T&C, Trial Operation) leading the specific discipline experts.
- Identify, assess and resolve system integration issues, interface conflicts and cross discipline dependencies leading the specific discipline experts.
- Support schedule, risk and change management from a system integration perspective leading the specific discipline experts.
- Provide regular technical reporting to the Chief Systems Engineer on status of design reviews, acceptance, integration, risks, issues & progress.
- Close collaboration with the contractors to deliver works.
Qualifications:
- University degree in engineering (e.g. Electrical Engineering, Mechanical, Railway Engineering, Systems Engineering)
- Minimum of 3-5 years demonstrated experience in delivery of railway systems for light rail, metro or railway infrastructure projects, ideally within PMC or client side roles.
- Demonstrated general experience of Rolling Stock, Depot Work Equipment, Traction Power, PSD, Track.
- Demonstrated experience of railway systems review, acceptance activities in a project engineering role managing employ requirements & compliance with rail standards (EN 50126 / 50128 / 50129, CENELEC).
- Strong understanding of interfaces and dependencies across railway subsystems.
- Practical experience with design, manufacturing, implementation, testing and commissioning phases.
- Strong project engineering, coordination, communication and stakeholder management skills
- Proactive, solution oriented approach with the ability to manage complex technical interfaces
- Excellent command of English in an international project environment
- Willingness to travel as per business requirements
