We are looking for a "Senior Rolling Stock Expert (Mechanical)" in Gurugram, India at Deutsche Bahn Engineering & Consulting. The Key Responsibility and role is:
- Review and approve rolling stock mechanical basic and final designs as per international standards, codal provisions, contract, and project requirements.
- Finalize mechanical subsystems and vendors (e.g., carbody, bogies, suspension, brake system, couplers, HVAC mechanical assemblies, passenger/driver doors, interior/exterior fittings) including vendor qualification and approvals.
- Define and review mechanical type tests and FAT protocols at system and component level; ensure coverage for strength, fatigue, vibration, noise, sealing (IP), fire/smoke, environmental, and safety requirements.
- Witness and evaluate mechanical tests and FATs: brake system, bogie/frame, suspension elements, coupler and draft gear, doors and actuators, HVAC mechanical performance, carbody strength/leak tests, IP tests for mechanical enclosures, lighting housings, seats/handrails, cables routing supports.
- Review train-level validation test procedures focusing on mechanical performance: dynamic ride quality, stability, curving, clearances/Schedule of Dimensions (SOD), brake performance, noise/vibration, door operation, emergency egress, and maintainability.
- Inspect manufacturing and assembly processes for first-off and serial trainsets: carbody fabrication/welding, dimensional control, corrosion protection, paint, bogie assembly, wheelset/bearing assembly, brake rigging, door installation, interior fit-out, HVAC mounting, and torque/quality traceability.
- Oversee mechanical commissioning at depot/site for rolling stock: static/dynamic mechanical checks, brake proving, door cycle tests, HVAC airflow/thermal performance, ride/clearance verification, and close-out of punch items.
- Lead mechanical interface management and integration with other rail systems: SOD definition, car-train-platform interfaces, track/vehicle interaction, PSD/door alignment (mechanical), wheel-rail and brake-signal timing interfaces, and maintenance specifications for mechanical assets.
- Coordinate with client and stakeholders to recommend solutions on mechanical design changes, concessions, and non-conformance dispositions; drive configuration control and document approvals.
- Prepare and submit rolling stock mechanical documentation to statutory authorities (as applicable) for trials and clearances; support technical responses, inspections, and compliance evidence.
- Graduate in Mechanical Engineering
- At least 15 years of Professional Experience. Profound experience in Metro Rail projects.
- More than 3 years the General consultancy / General engineering consultancy / Project management consultancy / Independent engineers for project implementation authority for the Metro rail projects.
- English knowledge is required; Knowledge of local language (Hindi) will add more value.
